Episode 18 Dec 11, 2022

After six weeks of fierce competition, only the three best chefs remain. Tonight, they have the chance to cook themselves into the MasterChef history books as they battle it out for the final time in the most important cook-off of their career.

These three exceptional chefs, who have already cooked some outstanding, original and breathtaking plates of food to reach the final, face one last challenge: to cook the three most spectacular courses of their lives for the MasterChef judges. In three hours, they must bring together a starter, a main and a dessert of their own creation, surpassing all the culinary ability, technique and knowledge they have demonstrated to so far and impressing on a whole new scale.

As the tension builds in the kitchen, they pour their hearts and souls into every plate of food. Nothing but perfect execution, mind-blowing flavours and jaw-dropping presentation will win them the trophy. The pressure is massive, and when the stakes are this high, any error could cost them. But if they can deliver, it could change their lives forever, when one of them is crowned MasterChef: The Professionals champion 2022.

Episode 17 Dec 8, 2022

Tonight, the competition intensifies as the last four chefs battle it out for a coveted place in the final. They face two demanding challenges, and their food will be scrutinised at every turn by the judges and the UK's top food critics. Only the most exciting and brilliant three chefs will make it through to the all-important final cook-off.

First, each finalist is asked to create a dish inspired by a place close to their heart. When you eat amazing food, you remember where you were, and now they must transport the judges through the taste of their food. Imagination, technical excellence and delightful flavours are the order of the day.

Then, the chefs face a new and formidable challenge when they are asked to cook a show-stopping dish of their own creation for a dining room full of some of the UK's leading food critics. Jay Rayner, William Sitwell, Leyla Kazim, Jimi Famurewa and April Jackson gather with high expectations and an appetite for spotting talent. The chefs have cooked for critics before, but now they must deliver on a whole new level, as this time the critics will help judge who deserves a place in the final three.

In the kitchen, the chefs have two and half hours to create their dish. They need to give it everything they've got, serving up a plate of food that showcases their ambition, mastery of technique, culinary knowledge and refined palate. In short, they need to cook the best food of their lives.

Episode 16 Dec 6, 2022

It's Finals Week, and only the six most exceptional chefs are left standing. Tonight, six become four as they battle for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cook their food for a dining room full of culinary legends at the Chef's Table.

First, the contenders must cook off against each other in the MasterChef kitchen to prove they are worthy of cooking at this incredible event. They have one hour and 45 minutes to pull out all the stops and cook a dish that showcases their best culinary attributes and technical abilities. Each must draw on all their knowledge and skill to create a stunning plate of food that shines out in a room full of talented chefs. At the end of this challenge, the judges will decide which four can continue in the competition.

The Chef's Table is one of the most prestigious events in the British culinary calendar, and this year it's being held at the five-star Lanesborough Hotel in London. For the remaining finalists, it's a unique chance to prove their talent to 20 of their professional heroes, who hold 19 Michelin stars between them. They include Matt Abé (3* Restaurant Gordon Ramsay), Nieves Barragan Mohacho (Sabor 1*), Lisa Goodwin-Allen (1* Northcote), Jason Atherton (The Social Company 3*) and the much-loved MasterChef judge and renowned chef patron of Mere, Monica Galetti.

Cooking for these culinary giants is a huge honour, and the chefs have five hours to prepare one course each for this unique dinner. The pressure is on to execute every single element to perfection and send 20 identical, exquisitely presented dishes out to the guests. Nothing can go amiss as the expert diners will be seeking flawless, mouthwatering, original food. For the finalists, these dishes could make or break their careers and their chances of winning the MasterChef: The Professionals 2022 title.

Episode 15 Dec 2, 2022

The semi-finals conclude with the second group of four chefs facing two tough challenges as they try to win a place in Finals Week and move one step closer to lifting the trophy.

Once again, the MasterChef: The Professionals pop-up opens for business in a warehouse in industrial east London, with the contenders cooking for 20 of the UK's best pop up chefs and food entrepreneurs.

They then return to the MasterChef kitchen for their second task: cooking off against each other for an all-important place in Finals Week. They have one hour and 45 minutes to cook their Desert Island Dish. In a room of such talent and with the stakes so high, only the most exceptional food will be good enough.

One chef will be eliminated by the judges, while the remaining three will join the other professionals to complete the Finals Week line-up.

Episode 14 Dec 1, 2022

The semi-finals continue with only the eight best chefs left standing. They are now split into two groups and over the next two nights will strive to secure an all-important place in Finals Week.

Tonight, the first four face two challenges, beginning with their first task outside the MasterChef kitchen. The MasterChef: The Professionals pop-up opens its doors in a warehouse microbrewery in industrial east London.

In recent years, pop-up restaurants have revolutionised the way we eat. With a vibrant mix of cuisines on offer in dynamic settings, some of the most exciting food currently in the UK has come from the pop-up industry, enabling creative chefs to make a name for themselves without the costs of opening a traditional restaurant.

The semi-finalists have an opportunity to make an impression in this vibrant world as they cook their own dish for 20 of the UK's top pop-up chefs and entrepreneurs. They each have three hours to deliver a dish designed to get this influential crowd talking, but with makeshift workstations, limited equipment and no ovens, who will be able to adapt their fine-dining style and serve up a dish that says star quality?

For the second task, the four chefs return to the MasterChef kitchen and have one hour and 45 minutes to cook their own Desert Island Dish – a dish they would take with them if they were stranded on a desert island. With places in Finals Week at stake, the slightest mistake could mean they miss out on the chance of a lifetime.

Once Marcus, Anna and Gregg have tasted all the dishes, it will be end of the road for one chef, while the best three go through to Finals Week and stay in the running for the MasterChef: The Professionals 2022 title.

Episode 13 Nov 28, 2022

As the semi-finals begin, only ten chefs are left standing. Tonight, they cook off against each other for the first time, all fighting to keep alive their hopes of being crowned MasterChef: the Professionals champion 2022.

First, the chefs must each create a showstopping dish based on their favourite food memory. They have one hour and 20 minutes to showcase their creativity, skill and flair in a dish inspired by a time in their lives when food was especially important to them.

The ten are split into two groups for the cooking, but ultimately are all competing against each other. They must aim for perfection, as only the five strongest contenders will go straight through to the next round.

The other five will have to cook again in an Invention Test round. Given a selection of the leftovers from the previous challenge, they have one hour and 30 minutes to produce a dish that wows the judges and secures their place in the competition. Who will be able to pick themselves up, think on their feet and deliver a plate of food that proves they have what it takes? At the end of this round, two contenders will be eliminated from the competition.

Episode 12 Nov 25, 2022

This is their chance to shine as they cook for people who could one day make or break their careers.

As well as a wide variety of oranges and various ginger ingredients to choose from, they have a selection of poultry, fish, vegetables, dried fruit, nuts and chocolate to use in their sweet or savoury dishes. With just 10 minutes to plan and an hour and 10 minutes to prepare and cook, who will be able to think quickly and deliver a sublime plate of food that stands out from the pack?

Next, they take on a test that has seen even the best chefs crumble under the pressure. The penultimate episode sees the four remaining chefs battle for an all-important place in the final three, and the chance to go to Oslo to learn from the star of Nordic gastronomy and cook in the three-Michelin-star restaurant Maaemo. Chef Esben Holmboe Bang is a groundbreaking, innovative, young chef. This dynamic chef creates his 20-dish menus using the heart of traditional Norwegian food and produce. The three finalists have a rare opportunity to learn from Esben and his team. They must then show what they have learnt by creating a stunning dish to impress Esben himself. The chefs will have to draw inspiration from Esben's philosophy and the produce in front of them, mahogany clams, mackerel, fermented plants, ants and edible flowers.

Episode 19 Dec 20, 2016

The remaining four chefs start the finals week with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cook at one of the most prestigious events in the culinary calendar, The Chef's Table. Descending on a London location are 28 heavyweights of modern gastronomy. This is a potentially career-changing moment for the finalists to showcase their own food for their idols. Each finalist is in charge of one of the menu's four courses - starter, fish, main and dessert. Over five tense hours, under the close scrutiny of Marcus and Monica, the chefs prepare every single element of their ambitious dishes. The pressure is immense, the chefs have to take their food to a whole new level by executing 30 plates in the most terrifying service they have ever faced. If the finalists want to show that they have the talent to be a culinary star of the future, they have to deliver faultless dishes to both excite and impress the most discerning diners in the country.

Episode 18 Dec 15, 2016

In the last semi-final, the three chefs still to do battle for a place in finals week are sent to work under Michelin-starred chef George Blogg. His unique culinary style capitalises on being situated within one of the UK's most formative kitchen gardens at the exclusive Gravetye Manor. The chefs are given the honour and nervewracking experience of being responsible for one of George's dishes each during a packed lunchtime service. Under George's watchful gaze and firm guidance, the competitors will be hard pushed to keep up with the frantic pace. The chefs return the next day to cook George's own signature dish, a garden salad that is so seasonal, the ingredients change daily. They have to prove they understand George's philosophy and showcase their palate and creativity by first selecting their own produce from the 500 on offer in the two-acre kitchen garden. Finally, the chefs cook a two-course menu for Marcus and Monica. Only the strongest two chefs will go through to finals week.

The chefs will have to deliver his incredible and intricate dishes to his exacting standards before they can be sent to the diners. They then must present one of the star dishes on the Alyn's Michelin-starred menu - roasted cornish turbot, with ratatouille, aerated bouillabaise and an amaretto and black olive crumb.
